Generate an app password so another application can access your Zoho Mail when you have multi-factor authentication turned on. For example, use it to access Zoho Mail over IMAP in Zoho CRM, Outlook or another mail client.

Why you need an app password

When multi-factor authentication (also called two-factor authentication) is turned on, you can't use your regular password to set up Zoho Mail in other applications. You need to generate an app password instead.

Generate an app password

1. Go to https://accounts.zoho.com.au. You may need to verify your identity.
2. Go to Security and click App Passwords.

   

3. Click Generate New Password.

   

4. Name the password after the app you'll use it for, for example Zoho CRM IMAP, iCloud IMAP or Outlook IMAP. Then click Generate.

   

5. The password is displayed (it's masked in the example above for security). Click the copy button and enter the password in the application.
6. Click Close.

You can't recover the password after you click Close, so make sure you've copied it first.

Manage existing app passwords

On the App Passwords page, you can see the friendly names of passwords you've created before.

• To delete a password, click the trash can icon on the right. You can't recover a deleted password.
• You can't recover an app password. If you need it again, delete it and create a new one.
